Description
The objectives of the individual modules within the modular course are to provide updates & raise awareness within the transport sector by enabling drivers to operate safely, within current legislation, regulations & policy, by ensuring compliance with the rules within the transport environment.
On completion of the training modules selected, the delegates will have a clearer understanding of the following. The course equips participants with the knowledge and skills required to reduce and manage road risk across a fleet operation.
This Safer Driving (Theory) course, participants will be able to Explain the moral, economic and legal reasons for safe driving, apply duty of care to minimise road risk your staff face and the risk they present to other road users, establish and evaluate work-related road risk management practices across your operation, appreciate the need for a major incident process to manage the aftermath of a serious road traffic collision.
This Safe Driving Practical Course allows delegates to gain first-hand experience as a road user (VRU), through on-cycle hazard awareness, and recognise why cyclists behave the way they do.
This Safe Driving immersive (Virtual Reality) allows drivers have a duty of care to share the road safely, wherever they are operating. For drivers to be able to achieve this, they must be able to adapt to their ever-changing environment, the many varied, difficult challenging conditions & situations they face.
In addition, they must be able to show a responsible attitude & an excellent behaviour towards other road users in difficult situations to manage & minimise the road risk.
This Safe Driving Inclement Weather element is delivered in the classroom as a contingency measure only to be used in the most extreme weather when cycling is impossible due to extreme cold, wind, rain or heat. During the session, weather conditions will be monitored regularly and any opportunity to cycle will be taken. At this point instructors will refer to the On Road Practical training lesson plan.
