Description
By the end of this course the drivers will be able to:
- Identify and discuss key issues relating to the load securing systems used in their day-to-day activities.
- Discuss the rules concerning daily and weekly rest periods, and driving breaks and limits.
- Discuss how activity is recorded on the digital tachograph and their responsibilities to use the mode switch correctly.
- Recall and discuss the Working Time Directive in relation to their daily work.
- Recognise and discuss the steps to take to prevent bridge strikes and how to deal with a bridge strike incident.
- Discuss the risks faced by cyclists on the UK’s roads and identify safe practices which can be used to protect and help vulnerable road users including measures that can be taken by drivers of large goods vehicles to reduce the risks posed by their vehicles.
- Identify and discuss key regulations relating to health and safety in the workplace.
- Carry out safe and efficient tyre checks and understand the implications of badly maintained tyres.
- Perform checks to their vehicle and discuss the importance of ongoing vehicle awareness.
